This region of the Canary Islands is known for its sub-tropical climate, bringing mild and stable temperatures for the majority of the year. Playa de Papagayo
For a unique beach experience, you may want to head to Playa de Papagayo, which can be found around the most southern part of the island of Lanzarote. To get here, you will have to brave a rough drive, but what awaits you is worth it. This beach has stone circle pools that were created during the island’s extensive volcanic activities, but also a strip of sandy beach, which gently slopes into the sea.
Not to be missed is the Museo Atlantico Underwater Museum, a unique dive site and underwater sculpture gallery as envisioned by artist Jason deCaires Taylor. Getting to Playa Blanca from the Airport
Traveling to Playa Blanca will have you flying into the Lanzarote airport, from which you will have several options to choose. You can rent a car and drive to Playa Blanca directly, which should take an estimated 40 minutes. Airport transfers are also available, which are an affordable option at 6€ per head – however, these will need to be pre-booked, as you won’t be able to buy a ticket upon arrival at the airport.
You can also take a bus from the airport to Playa Blanca, but be sure to check the schedule beforehand. Buses usually leave the airport every 30 minutes between 7:30am and 10:30pm on weekdays. Weekend schedules will have fewer buses available, as well as public holidays. You can also choose to take a taxi, which will cost you around 50€, and is the more expensive but comfortable option.
